Edible Excursions: Taste the Mission Walking Tour

Your Epicurean Concierge makes a regular beeline to San Francisco’s Mission District, where the traditional and often lusty Latino and South American flavors are a part of a changing community of various background and cultures. Excursions include a mouth-watering assortment of tastings and samples both savory and sweet. It’s a world of tacos and salsa (the sauce, not the dance), freshly made ice cream and savory pies. Guests will enjoy learning in person the stories of Mission culinary artists and shop keepers, with insights into the area’s history and beautiful, world famous murals.

Bring your appetite and a bottle of water. Along the way, participants will get to taste some of the following local artisan edibles (subject to change):

La Cocina is a Mission-based business incubator program for food entrepreneurs.
– Handmade tartlet from Mission Pie and hand held savory pie delivered by Bike Basket Pies.
– We’ll also try some of Humphry Slocombe’s award winning, fresh, original ice cream such as Secret Breakfast, Boccalone Prosciutto and Blue Bottle Vietnamese Coffee, as well as Mexican delicacies from El Farolito (taco), La Palma Foods, (huarache and fresh salsa) and La Victoria (pan dulce)
Mission Minis, home of the mini cinnamon horchata cupcake, baked daily.
Mr. Pollo serves the most incredible empanadas and arepas in this quaint Venezuelan eatery.
Local Mission Eatery is true to its name. One of the Mission’s newest additions, Local offers a menu for lunch, brunch and dinner that reflects the seasons and availability of locally grown fruits, vegetables, and meats.
– The Precita Eyes Mural Arts Center captivates guests with more than 80 colorful murals that celebrate the Mission District’s cultural heritage in an eight-block span.
